Harry the Lion ® was the official mascot of then – English Food & Co and now – Native English UK, representing both UK and Russia. Harry has a rich history spanning two continents.

Harry the Lion has official trademark status -739925 in the Russian Federation.

Harry the Lion®™ is the official mascot of Native English UK. He is one-of-a-kind lion with a unique boisterous and charming personality, tracing his ancestry from UK and Russia. Harry is a unique blend of lion and bear, with the former originating from the Saharan wildlife and latter from the wild forests of Siberia, authored and copyrighted by Joshua Levy. He learned English at the Lion School of English, and he is currently studying Russian at the Matryoshka School of Foreign Languages. He enjoys dancing and reading travel books, and he hopes to visit many countries.

Harry immigrated to the United Kingdom on a dingy, sailing via the Island of Madagascar with his whole family in 1605, and arrived accidentally to the United Kingdom as his compass got confused while navigating through a sea storm. While his brothers proudly sit at the footsteps of Trafalgar Square in London, he likes to munch his favourite English Tea Biscuits and loves his afternoon tea with scones and cakes. In the evening, he likes to eat his favourite Siberian meat pelmeni, and then after drinking his favourite hot chocolate he puts on his pyjamas and tucks himself to bed.

Harry loves to meet with people and learn different cultures and traditions as he explores his brave new world.

Design Process

The idea process created by Joshua who began combining two icons of our historical heritage of Russia and UK together, i.e. Paddington Bear, Lion of the Trafalgar Square and Siberian bear from Russia. It took over 15 iterations to come to the final mascot.

Once the idea was formed, a 2D hand sketch had to be drawn, initially by an artist from Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky, a small city in the Russian Far-East, and then was developed to a 3D model by Stefan our designer from Serbia.

The final 3D printing process took place in 3D studios in Moscow region, who created the plaster cast from CGI (computer generated image)

Retail

Since May 2020, there have been several prototypes of stuffed toys, gift cards and model souvenirs. Our first 10 stuffed toy production sold out within 10 days, as the demand was quite significant and has proved to be quite popular amongst our younger demographic audience. Currently, plans are being developed to re-introduce our stuffed toys, alongside apparel as limited edition.
